Bessie Kelley, a 97 year old resident of Jay, Florida, went to be with the Lord on December 20, 2009. She was born on October 1, 1912 to Rufus Doc Chavis and Mamie Nowling. Bessie was a member and Sunday School teacher at Cora Baptist Church where she served her Lord and loved her church family. She enjoyed gardening, rocking babies, quilting and fishing.

She was preceded in death by parents and her husband Perry Kelley, a daughter Shirley Tidwell, a son Wayne Kelley and grandson, Ray Bovia Jr., and granddaughter, Regina Scott. and two son-in-laws Ray Bovia and Lloyd Tidwell and brother, Elbert Chavis.

She leaves to cherish her memories her daughters Myrtle Diamond ( David C.) of McDavid, Fl, Mary Bovia of Mandeville, LA, her sons James Kelley of Gulf Breeze, Fl, Buck Kelley (Glenda) of Bogia, FL, daughter Paula Whitfield (Frank) of Pensacola, Fl, sons Tink Kelley (Annie Ruth) of Jay, Fl, Jerry Kelley (Walterene) of Jay, Fl, daughters Ann West (Ben) of Jay, FL, Joan Struebing (Jeff) of Pace, FL and son Houston Kelley of Jay, FL and sister, Veda Mae Bryant of Milton.

Mrs. Kelley had twenty-four grandchildren, forty-three great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Jay Funeral Home from 6pm-9pm Wednesday. FUNERAL SERVICES will be at 11:00am Thursday at CORA BAPTIST CHURCH. Interment will be at Cora Baptist Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Dr. Jeff Kelley, Terry Kelley, Benjie West, Randall Kelley, Mike Kelley, Brenton Kelley,Christian Struebing, and John Stone. Jay Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
