Injury Fatal To Mrs. Lillie Grable,
Resident of Henry

Funeral services for Mrs. Lillie Rushing Grable, of Henry, who died Friday morning in Brownsville at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Paul Sims, were held at the Church of Christ, in Henry, Saturday afternoon. Rites were conducted by Elder Fred W. Chunn, of Henry, and the Rev. Loyce Pierce, of Brownsville. Burial was in Palestine cemetery. Spicer and McEvoy Funeral Home was in charge.

Serving as pallbearers were Marvin Wright, Dallas Joyner, Ben Phelps, Charles Wright, O. C. Ferrell and Maben Curry.

Mrs. Grable had been ill since the twenty-fifth of September when she received a broken leg in a fall in the garden of her home in Henry and was carried to Campbell's Clinic, in Memphis, for treatment. Later she was carried to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sims where her condition was seemingly improved until within recent days.

A daughter of the late John M. and Nannie Diggs Rushing, Lillie Rushing was born and reared in the Palestine community. She was married in 1892 to Lee Grable, a young farmer of the county, and within a few years moved to Henry to reside. Mr. Grable died twenty years ago.

Mrs. Grable, a member of the Church of Christ, in Henry, was a leader in church and community activities, a representative of families long prominent in West Tennessee.

Mrs. Sims, at Brownsville, and Mrs. Clark M. Mathis, of Louisville, a stepdaughter, and one grandson, Paul G. Sims, of Louisville, are the only survivors. Mrs. Grable's only son, John Rushing Grable, died two years ago.

Others who were in Henry for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Tyler, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Hilton, Mrs. J. C. Duffey, Mrs. Toney Keller, Mrs. Mary Busby, and Mrs. Ed Douglas, all of Brownsville.
