Lifelong Resident of Marcoot Community Passes.

Mrs. Mattie Smith, age 69, lifelong resident of the Marcoot Community, passed away Wednesday, January 2. Death came unexpectedly. Funeral services were held from the Rock Spring Baptist Church, January 3, at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Charles Glaze officiating. Interment was in the Rock Spring Cemetery with Johnson & Sanders Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Smith was a member of the Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church, and is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Dewey Leach and Mrs. Robert M. Wilkerson, both of Marcoot; one son, Ellis A. Smith of Marcoot; two sisters, Mrs. Tom House, Five Points, and Mrs. Susie Christian, Marcoot; three brothers, H.J. and W.L. Harmon, LaFayette Route 3, and J.W. Harmon, Fairfax.

Pallbearers were W.G. Harmon, Roy Harmon, Toker Harmon, Morgan Harmon, Jack Harmon and Eric Harmon.
