Bernice Kaszubski, 94, formerly of East Vandergrift, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2009, in Algonac, Mich. Born April 1, 1914, in East Vandergrift, she was the daughter of the late Bronislaw and Helen Kaminski Orlowski and had lived in East Vandergrift most of her life until moving to Michigan. She had been a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in East Vandergrift. Mrs. Kaszubski had been employed at Hills Department Store in Lower Burrell and enjoyed bingo and bowling. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia (Harry Hines) Lopata, of Harsens Island, Mich.; a son, Richard (Susan) Kaszubski, of West Leechburg; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Marianne (James) Lopata, of Port Orange, Fla.; and a sister-in-law, Kay Orlowski, of East Vandergrift. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Adam J. Kaszubski, in 1983; a son-in-law, Andrew Lopata; a granddaughter-in-law, Aimee Kaszubski; three brothers, Casimer, Bernard and Joseph Orlowski; and two sisters, Helen Martin and Gertrude Majercak. Friends may call from noon until the time of a blessing service at 1 p.m. Thursday in the DUNMIRE-KERR FUNERAL HOME, Vandergrift, with Father Michael Sciberras officiating. Interment will be in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Vandergrift.
