Mr. Kelly lived the greater part of his life in Duncansville where he was first employed by the Portage Iron Company. As a member of the Hicks Memorial Methodist Church, he served as a member of the board of trustees and a secretary of the board at the time the church was erected and dedicated. He served two terms on the borough council and was president of the Memorial association for 10 years.
In 1901 Mr. Kelly entered the service of the Psnnsylvania Railroad Company at the Seventeenth street roundhouse and transferred to East Altoona when the engine house was opened there. Mr. Kelly retired as a machinist July 31, 1947.
He was born at the foot of plane 9 of the Portage railroad, Juniata township, May 5, 1878, a son of George P. and Mary (Mash) Kelly. His first wife, Mrs. Lillie (Black)Kelly, died Feb. 10, 1930.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Grace (Beyer)Kelly; three daughters and one son, Miss Beatrice A. and Mrs. Charles R. Fleck of Duncansville, Mrs. John Russell of Snow Shoe and J. Eugene Kelly of Elton; 10 grandchildren, two step-sons, Justus S. Beyer of Mearlville and F. Gerald Beyer of Pittsburgh, and two sisters, Mrs. Mollie Landis of Duncansville and Miss Myra Kelly of Altoona.
In Altoona Mr. Kelly was a member of the Simpson Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at the Hickey funeral home after 7 o'clock this evening. Service Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Paul E. Myers. Interment in Carson Valley Cemetery.
