Martha " Mattie" C. Duane, 83 of Charleston, a retired forman with Southern Bell, died Monday at a local hospital. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
Miss duane was born in Charleston, a daughter of Joseph H. Duane and Martha Murphy Duane. She attended Catholic schools in Charleston. She was a member of Telephone Pioneers, Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus and St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church.
Surviving are four brothers, Walter V. Duane, Joseph P. Duane, William A. Duane,John P. Duane all of Charleston, and two sisters, Genevieve Duane and Gertrude D. Clark, both of Charleston.
