JAMES SAMUEL "Sammy" BLACKWELL, 44, died Monday May 28, 2007 at his home. He was born on September 3, 1962 in Jacksonville to the late James D. and Wilma Sweat Blackwell. Sammy was a life-long resident of Macclenny. He worked in construction as a pipe layer and loved to fish. He enjoyed helping his friends and family in any way possible. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his brother Claude Wayne Blackwell of Glen St. Mary; sister Loretta Rowe (Butch) of Macclenny; nephew B.J. Rowe, and niece Mandi Canaday (Mitch), great-nephews Avery and William Canaday all of Macclenny; aunts Toria, Higginbotham (E.D.) of Maxville, Bernice Raulerson, Shirley Rhoden, and Sally Cooley (Jerry), all of St. Augustine, and uncle Johnny Sweat (Alene) of Baldwin.

The graveside service was held Wednesday, May 30 at South Prong Cemetery with Pastor Johnny Wayne Anderson officiating. Pallbearers were Ron­­­­­­­­­­­­­­ald, Henry, Donald and Bill Thigpen, Reed Kline, Stanley Perry, Victor Brand, and Robbie Morris. Arrangements were under the direction of V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services.
