Daniel married Julia (Clough). She was the daughter Aaron Clough (1765 CT-1823 Belpre Twp, OH) and Sarah (Delano) Clough (1781-1844).

Silas Bent Oakes, born in 1848, was a farmer & a stock breeder. He was living at his grandfather Joel Oakes' homestead in 1906. Silas married Elizabeth (Wells) of Bellville, WV, and had 2 children: Julia & Lizzie Oakes.
