Chapman's PORTRAIT and BIOGRAPHICAL RECORD of ST. CHARLES, LINCOLN and WARREN COUNTIES, MISSOURI of 1895 provides a biographical sketch of Judge Fritz W Huenefeld. Judge Fritz W. Huenefeld of Holstein was elected as Judge in the southern district of Warren County in 1890. His record during four years of service was deemed entirely creditable to him and the community. He is the third child [fourth to survive to adulthood] of William and Christina (Steineker) Huenefeld, and was born near Holstein in 1847. His father died when Judge Huenefeld was only five years old. Judge Huenefeld received his education in the schools of Warren County. For a time he engaged in a mercantile business in New Boston, MO, then turned to milling, and finally farming. "He is known far and wide for his benevolence of heart and his uniformly courteous treatment of every one." Judge Hueenfeld married Miss Annie Knapheide 10 June 1870. Ten children were born to this couple. "Two of the family circle have been called to the better land." The Judge and his family are active member of the Evangelical Church.

Mr. Huenefeld's obituary appeared in The Warrenton Banner 18 August 1916:

Frederick W. Huenefeld.

After a long and successful career, Mr. Frederick W. Huenefeld, one of the best known citizens of the southern part of the county, died at his home in Holstein at break of day, on Saturday, August 5. He was born on a farm near Holstein August 12, 1847, and spent his entire life in that community. For many years he was a merchant and the postmaster in Holstein, and thus had the opportunity to gain many friends, and to become widely known. He was married to Miss Anna Knapheide June 10, 1870, and this union was blessed with ten children. Two of the children died in early childhood, and one son, Daniel, died October 20, 1889 [1898], leaving his wife and a daughter. His devoted companion of two score and six years, and seven children survive him. They are as follows: George, Franklin, Theodore, and William, who reside with their families in Holstein and vicinity; and Julius, Pauline and Ella H. at home. He also leaves his brother, Henry Huenefeld, of Holstein; two half-brothers, August, and Daniel Brueggenjohann of near Holstein; a sister, Mrs. Koenig, of Hoyleton, Ill., and one-half sister, Mrs. E. Dothage of Holstein. Besides these he leaves three grand-children and many other relatives and friends.

Mr. Huenefeld was a member of the Evangelical church at that place since 1875, and always took an active part in the affairs of the church, often serving on the official board. Four years ago his health began to fail and it was necessary to take him to a hospital where he suffered an operation. Since that time he never enjoyed his former good health, though the past several months he seemed to have improved very much, and most of the time was able to attend to his business. Even the day before the call of the angel of death, he was at his post of duty, but took sick seriously very suddenly, and passed away peacefully on the above named date, aged 68 years, 11 months and 23 days.

In the presence of a large number of sorrowing relatives and friends, the funeral serices were conducted from the Evangelical church on Tuesday, August 8, his pastor, Rev. Egger, speaking words of consolation from Matthew 26, 39. After the services the body was given over to its final resting place in the cemetery near the church.
