Charles was very close to his brother Thomas A. Carlile, buriend at Roscoe, Nolan County, TX.
Charlie attended court as jury duty on 14 Feb, 1937. He was walking home (Webb City) and as he was walking across the Arkansas River bridge, he stopped at the toll booth and sat down to rest. He then fell over dead from a heart attack.
When his father died in MS, his mother, Nancy Saffell Carlisle brought her children with her to Franklin County, around 1874. They came on a river boat. Nancy's brother John Saffell had been in the county for years and encouraged her to come west. She probably came about 1875 and arrived by Steamboat. First evidence was marriage of a daughter in Dec 1876 in Fort Smith, AR. In Nov, 1878, Nancy applied for 80 acres of land, SE of Cecil, Franklin Co., AR.
