MERRILL S. THOMPSON
Merrill S. Thompson, 62, 1365 Sublette, Rock Springs, a resident of the city since 1925, died Thursday at 12:55 a.m. in Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Thompson, a retired employee of Mountain Fuel Supply Co., had been hospitalized five days. He had been in ill health since September.
The deceased was born Aug. 16, 1904, in Bloomington, Idaho, the son of Peter and Hanna Arnell Thompson. He married Irene Palmer in Bloomington Jan. 25, 1923.
A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mr. Thompson attended school in Bloomington.
Survivors include his wife, Irene, Rock Springs; two daughters, Mrs. Donald T. (Nadee) Pedersen, Rock Springs, and Mrs. Russell (Bonnie) Hadley, Green River; three sisters, Mrs. E.P. (Hettie) Cleveland, St. Charles, Idaho; Mrs. Viola Nelson, Driggs, Idaho and Mrs. William (Vesta) Bateman, Brigham City, Utah; 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday at noon at the LDS Church, Bishop Archie Sawyer of the First Ward officiating. Burial was in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Jack Cleveland, Guy Nelson, Richard Thompson, Cyril Thompson, Grant Bateman and Jay Floyd.
Honorary pallbearers were Victor Pedersen, Allen Bundy, Phil Chabre, Villa Albat, Jerry Floyd and Ray Sarcletti.
