AN OLD CITIZEN---John H. Willis, one of our oldest citizens, died at his residence on East Steubenville Ave., Monday evening, July 18, 1898.
He was born in Belmont County August 18, 1818 and came with his parents to Jefferson Township this county, when he was a child.
He was married to Miss Jane Speer, Near Antrim in 1843. No children resulted from this union. About twenty years ago he his farm in Jefferson township and came to this city, where by industry and economy he acquired quite a lot of property and was known as one of our wealthy citizens.
The funeral services were held Wednesday at the residence and were conducted by Rev. W.H. McFarland, pastor of the U.P. church, of which the deceased was a member. The remains were interred in the city cemetery.
