The deceased was a native of Denmark, and was born in Synder Verdeby Falster, Nov 27th, 1846. He was baptized and became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints in 186?, and immigrated to Utah shortly afterwards. He located in Manti immediately on his arrival in Utah and was married to Elsie Nielson in 1868. Bro. Madsen was a faithful and loving husband, a true Christian and always ready to perform his duties in everything required of him. He was called to work on the St. George Temple in 1871 and without murmur or discontentment labored on that worthy structure for two years. In 1891 Bro. Madsen was again called on a mission, this time to his native land. He labored in Denmark for a period of two years with much success, converting many to the principles he so proudly advocated.
