Ruth Tucker Ward, 99, died on Sunday, January 18, 2009. She was born in Rossville, GA, September 27, 1909, a daughter of the late Francis V. and Cleo Martin Jackson. Mrs. Ward was a member of Kensington United Methodist Church. She was retired from Jackson Bakery after several years of service, retiring at age 73. After retirement, she became a companion sitter with the elderly.

Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Allen Tucker; and a daughter, Barbara Allen Tucker.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna R. Hise, Kensington, GA; grandchildren, Martha Weaver, Janet Pryor, Willis (Ed) Hise and John Allen Hise, all of Kensington, GA; sister, Clara Cate, Chattanooga, TN; brother, Frank Vincent Jackson, Chattanooga, TN; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday in Chattanooga National Cemetery with Rev. Charles "Smokey" Hurst officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
