Ernest was born May 26, 1918 in Thomasville, Missouri, the son of L.D. and Pearl Brawley Gosnell. He attended school in Birchtree, Missouri and in 1936 he moved to Colorado. Ernest married Arlene Morris on September 19, 1953, in Denver Colorado. He worked for Pacific Intermountain Express Truck Lines and lived in Hayward, California; Salt Lake City; and Las Vegas, Nevada, before returning to Salt Lake City and retiring on June 1, 1980. Ernest received an Outstanding Safe Drivers award from Pacific Intermountain Express having driven over 2 million accident free miles.
He was a member of the Jerome Freewill Baptist Church, the Teamsters Union, and was a member of the Ok Time Fiddlers. He was known for his keen sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene Gosnell of Wendell, Idaho; one son, Barry Gosnell, Wendell, ID; brother, Chester D. Gosnell of Chaska, Minn; a sister, Alma Davis of Marble Hill, Missouri; three grandchildren, Peter G., Richard D., and Zachery S; and great-granddaughter, Caila A., and a special nephew, Chuck Barnes. He was preceded by his parents and one sister.
