Jennie was the second of six children of George Hilbert, a farmer, and his wife Minnie. Minnie's maiden name may have been Erwin. Jennie grew up in Nockamixon Twp., Bucks Co., Pennsylvania.
She married Elmer Shoudt, and the couple had four children: Russell in 1914, Erwin in 1916, Evelyn Mae about 1918 and Elmer Jr. in 1920.
Jennie lived in Upper Black Eddy (Bridgeton Twp.) all of her adult life.
She had five known grandchildren and four additional known descendants as of early 2009.
