Mrs. Verdie Putnam Earls, 82, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, she was a homemaker and a member of Flint Hill Baptist Church; The Revels Senior Choir; and Mothers Sunday school class.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C. Elmer Earls; her parents, Durham L. and Mabel Russ Putnam; and a brother, Edward Putnam.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley and Linda Earls of Gaffney, S.C., and Stephen and Shelia Earls of Shelby; a daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and Marvin Fortenberry of Shelby; a sister, Helen Smith of Ingram, Texas; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at Flint Hill Baptist. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
