The 1900 Census, Morris, Texas County, Missouri records Pleasant's date of birth as October 1833, he was widowed and daughter Neoma Lane and her husband, John Yates were recorded in the household. He likely died between 1905-1909 probably in Texas County, Missouri. The obituary of his younger brother, James Lane, reported he was born in Putnam County, Indiana and Pleasant's census records always record Indiana as well. His actual death date and burial place is unknown.

He and his wife Mary Jane had 10 children and lived most of their life in Texas County, Missouri.

Known Verified Siblings: Abagail Lane Wishon-Memorial ID #33039448, Ruhama Lane Zimmerman-Memorial ID #78282006 and James Lane-Memorial ID #78282587 - (The obituary for James Lane verified them as surviving siblings)

Most family trees and forums record his spouse as "Mary Jane Pinson/Penson." However, there are some inconsistencies in the documentation that he was married to Mary Jane Pinson and point to another woman by the name of Mary Jane Pearson.

The marriage documentation is found in a transcribed micro film copy of the original records "First Marriage Book" (April 1, 1829-September 1831) and "Marriage Book A" (1831-1855). "The Marriage Records of Crawford County, Missouri, Book A".

Documentation of support for marriage to Mary Jane Pinson or Mary Jane Pearson.

1. A newspaper legal notice appeared in the Rolla Hearald, Rolla, Phelps, Missouri on 30 July 1874. The notice was for the sale of 160 acres of land owned by Peter Fleming who died on 27 May 1872 at Dillion, Phelps County, Missouri. The notice recorded the names of approximately 25-30 individuals and included the names, Pleasant Lane and Jane Lane. After research it was concluded that all the individuals recorded were related to Peter Fleming either as children or grandchildren. The court ordered the sale of his property, and each person/family received a percentage of the proceeds.

2. Peter Fleming had a daughter by the name of Mary Emeline Fleming who was married to Kindred G. Pearson on 9 November 1838 in Rutherford County, Tennessee. They were recorded in 1850 in Cedar Creek, Madison, Arkansas with six children, their oldest daughter Mary, was recorded as 14 years of age, approximate year of birth 1836, born in Tennessee. Since 1836 was two years prior to the Pearson's marriage, it's likely she was born about 1839 or about 11 years of age rather than 14. The entire Pearson family unit after 1850 could not be found, both parents were likely to have died between 1850-1853. Mary Jane would have already been married by the 1860 census but five of Kindred and Emeline's children were all found on the 1860 census in Phelps County either living with or near Fleming Family members. Please note that Jane Lane was always recorded on census records as born in Tennessee.

3. Research of Mary Pinson indicates she was born in Indiana in 1841. She is recorded on the 1850 census, age 9 years, born in Indiana with father Henry Pinson in District 24, Crawford County, Missouri. Henry Pinson is recorded next on the 1860 census in Bowlin, Shannon, Missouri and his daughter Mary was still in the household, age 19 born in Indiana. The marriage between Mary Jane and Pleasant Lane took place on 23 March 1854, which is six years prior to the 1860 census. The 1860 census recorded Jane and Pleasant Lane living in Watkins, Dent, Missouri with three children, yet Mary Pinson is still living in her father's home in 1860.

Please see the link below for a marriage record between Mary J. Pinson and John M. Wycoff dated 3 March 1864 in Phelps County, Missouri. Mary Jane Pinson died 21 January 1907 in St. Louis County, Missouri (Find A Grave Memorial ID #13197844) Mary Pinson's father Henry A Pinson was buried at Pinson Cemetery in Crawford County, Missouri, memorial ID #182182817.

4. Thomas Edward Lane Social Security Death index records his mother's name as "Mary J. Fleming". At least three of Peter Flemings' children and their families were all living in the Phelps County and surrounding area, it would be logical to conclude her maiden name to be Fleming.

It's not known when Mary Jane died. She appeared on 1880 census and by the 1900 census, Pleasant was alone, recorded as widowed. It's also not known where she is buried but likely within Texas County, Missouri.
