Adam son of Richard Warden Campbell and Fanny Styles, was born in South Creek, Bradford County, Pennsylvania, on 7 June 1838. He moved with his family from one place to another until he was ten years of age. Then when he was 10 years old they settled in Tiago County, Pennsylvania. It was here that he heard of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in January of 1855 was baptized by Albert Crandall.

In the fall of 1855, he started for Salt Lake City, Utah with his folks. They got as far as Michigan and stayed there until the spring of 1858. In the summer of 1858 they traveled from Michigan to Council Bluffs, Iowa, a journey of about 1000 miles, which was on foot, driving one yoke of oxen and one yoke of cows. The good old faithful cows pulled the wagon in the daytime and gave milk night and morning. The milk was strained into a churn and by night there was butter churned by the shaking of the wagon.

He lived in Council Bluffs with his father, mother and sister up to this time, but on 1 January 1859 he was married to his first wife, Orpha Jane Brewer. On 1 April 1859 he and his father hired out to drive a merchant wagon to the city of the Saints and on April 20th, they left Omaha on a steamboat sailing down the Mississippi River to Atchison, Kansas. The wagons were all loaded when they got there and about April 25th they started across the Great American Desert with a bunch of wild oxen. He and his father drove the merchant wagon while an adopted brother by the name of Henry, more commonly known as Hank White, then about eight years of age, drove their own outfit with the help of the women folks.

On July 21st the company had ended their walk by arriving in Salt Lake City. From there the father went to Bountiful, and Adam went to work in Cottonwood, leaving his wife in Salt Lake City. About Sept. 15th his sister, Mercy Campbell contracted typhoid fever. The young wife went to Bountiful to nurse Mercy but she contracted the same disease. This brought on a premature birth. Mercy Ann was born in Oct. 1859 and died in November of the same year.

Adam came to the bedside of his ill wife. He also contracted the dread disease and while he lay unconscious, his wife died in the same room. She was taken out and buried, and it was three weeks before he knew of it. His sister also died about the same time from a relapse of the fever. About 1 January 1860 they loaded Adam on a bed and took him to North Ogden. It was March of the same year before he could walk again.

On 30 December 1861, he married Emma Brewer, a sister of his first wife. They were living in North Ogden, when Adam's second little daughter Emma Jane was born 2 October 1862. On 1 March 1865 they were blessed with another little girl, Matilda Bethena. Fannie Ann was born 17 February 1867, Mercy Roselpha was born 12 October 1869 and Harriet Elizabeth was born 4 February 1873. A few months later he was called upon to bury his second wife, leaving him with 5 little girls; the youngest being 3 months old. Emma died on the 28 May 1873.

On 8 February 1874 he was married to Elizabeth Beebe in Virgin, Utah, where they made their home for 9 years. On 3 November 1874, his first son was born, but died the next day. On 18 January 1876 Sarah Loraine was born. His second son Richard Albert was born 24 February 1878, but only lived 26 years. George Grant was born 26 October 1879. He lived to be 66 years of age. Gilbert was born 1 November 1881. He was 83 when he died.

In 1833 on May 20th he left Virgin City and moved to Weston, Idaho. Minnie Agnes was born 20 May 1884. On 15 November 1885 he was ordained a Seventy by C. D. Fgelsted. John was born 13 June 1886 and died the same day. Fredrick Henry was born 16 May, 1887, Clara Melissa 22 June 1889. In 1890 Adam was ordained a High Priest. Chleo Louisa was born 13 December 1892, Lydia May was born the 17 January 1895, Arletta Alvira (Vie) was born 2 November 1896 and Carolina was born 10 September 1900 and died the same day.

On 30 April 1905 his third wife died, leaving him with 14 living children, 6 of them still living at home, four had died at birth and one at the age of 26. He was always active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He would go in his horse and buggy for many miles around to visit with the sick, to administer and comfort them. While living in Weston, he helped build the Logan Temple.

In the Fall of 1908, he moved with his five youngest children to Lava Hot Springs, then known as Dempsey. The reason for going he said, "Was to get some sage to clear and new country to settle and build." He spent most of his remaining years there. He filled each day with honest labor doing the task that lay at hand cheerfully whether it be great or small. He has gone to reap the reward of work well and faithfully done.
