Mrs. Helen Allmond Braddy, age 80, of Alma formerly of Douglas passed away on Monday, January 12, 2009, at Coffee Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Braddy, a native of Toombs County, Georgia was born August 24, 1928; she is the daughter of the late George and Bessie Williamson Allmond. She was a file clerk for Braddy Auto Parts, a homemaker and the widow of the late Wendell Devon Braddy. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Son, Myron Devon Braddy preceded her in death.
Survivors include: daughter, Barbara Braddy (J. T. Sr.)Taylor of Alma, son, Daniel George Braddy of Douglas, daughter-in-law, Beth Braddy Smith of Douglas, grandchildren, Teresa (Michael) Hutcheson, Crystal (Tony) Kirkland, Amanda (Chris) Coffee, Saranan (Lee) Grantham, Celeste Braddy, Danlyn Braddy, James Taylor, Jr., Mickey (Kim) Braddy and Brad (Casey) Taylor, fourteen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m., Thursday, January 15, 2009, at the First Baptist Church in Douglas GA with Rev. Shep Johnson and Rev. Jason Mauffray officiating. Soloist, Vicky Manning sang, "Serenaded By Angels", Debby Braddy and Mickey Braddy sang, "Wish You Were Here" and a special taped selection of "When I Get Where I'm Going" was provided. Burial followed in the Braddy Family Cemetery in Montgomery County, Georgia.
Active pallbearers were: Kevin Kirkland, Justin Hart, Chris Coffee, Mickey Braddy and Brad Taylor. Honorary Pallbearers were: Members of the Vera Turner Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church.
Sims Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
