Melva M. Choate, 85, French Lick, formerly of Birdseye and Huntingburg, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, at 2:20 p.m. at Medco Health and Rehabilitation Center in French Lick.
Born Sept. 1, 1923, in English, she was the daughter of the late Lionel and Cora Cook.
She was a furniture factory worker who, following her retirement, became a caregiver for the elderly and was a member of Huntingburg Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include a daughter, Janet Gilliatt of Eckerty; two sons, Donald Choate of Indianapolis and Allen Choate of Birdseye; a sister, Norma Andry of Birdseye; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Friday, Jan. 16, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg.
Funeral: Saturday, Jan. 17, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home followed by burial in Birdseye Cemetery.
Officiants: The Revs. Ray Andry and Harold Bayer.
