Opal F. Gale, 87, of Monticello, died May 21, 1993 at Kirby Hospital, Monticello. Graveside services were held May 23 at Monticello Cemetery.
She was born May 24, 1905 in Champaign County, a d/o Charles Edward and Mary Ellen Peirce Vance. She married Harry H. Gale on August 23, 1922 at Champaign. He died August 24, 1971. Surviving are a son, Robert of Monticello; a daughter, Phyllis Sumner of Monticello; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Verdia Noe of Bement and Ida Rogers of Monticello. She was preceded in death by a daughter, a grandson, three brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Gale was a member of the Christian Church of Monticello, the Royal Neighbors and the Monticello VFW Auxiliary. She was a retired store clerk. Memorial contributions may be made to the Piatt County Nursing Home Alzheimer's Unit, Monticello.
