Eleanor Ann Wendt was born Aug. 19, 1927, in Rapid City, S.D., to Ernest Blattner and Grace Ellen Walter Blattner. She passed away at her home in Fortuna with her family at her side on April 28.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Emil Wendt; 3 children, Dennis Wendt of Fortuna, Kathy Heuschkel of Redding, Ore., and Vickie Collins of Fortuna. She is also survived by her sister, Hazel Heffernan; granddaughters, Renee Bledsoe and her husband Derek of Oregon and Dana Heuschkel; grandsons, Sean and David Collins of Napa; great-grandson, Draven Boyd. Her parents, Ernest and Grace Blattner preceded her in death.

Her many hobbies and interests included watching humming birds, growing flowers, and baking for the Wendt Construction Crew.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 3, 11 a.m. at the Sunrise Cemetery in Fortuna. A celebration of life and potluck will immediately follow at the Fortuna Fire Hall, 320 S. Fortuna Blvd., Fortuna, for all that wish to come. Donations are suggested to the Fortuna Adult Daycare, 2280 Newburg Road, Fortuna, 95540. Arrangements are under the direction of Goble's Fortuna Mortuary, Fortuna.
