STURGIS, S.D. -- Edith E. Heffernan, 78, Sturgis, died Thursday, June 24, 1999, at the Sturgis Long Term Care Center.
Visitation will be 8 a.m. to service time today at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 1999, at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Fr. Gary Oreshoski officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Edith was born Nov. 3, 1920, at Parade, S.D., to Ernest and Grace Blattner.
On June 18, 1937, she married Ole Heffernan where they resided on a ranch 23 miles southwest of Faith, S.D.
They were blessed with three children, Tom, May 14, 1938; Jerry, Sept. 9, 1946; and Mavis, April 30, 1956.
Survivors include her three children, Tom Heffernan and his wife Patty of La Crosse, Wis., Jerry Heffernan and his wife Patty of Sturgis, Mavis Dickey Cassels and her husband Robert of Sturgis; seven grandchildren, Scott McQuary of Lake Oswego, Ore., Tarah Borreson of La Crosse, Wis., Jesse Jerald Heffernan, Johnathon Heffernan, both of Appleton, Wis., Amanda Bertalot of Sturgis, Chris Dickey of Everett, Wash. and Josh Dickey of Sturgis; three great-grandchildren; one brother; three sisters; and a special friend, Pam McQuary Lee of Lake Oswego, Ore
