Rev. Christopher Gadsden, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of South Carolina, died at Charleston on the 24th ult., after a lingering illness. He leaves a wide circle of friends to mourn his loss.

He graduated from Yale with honors in 1804 was a member of Phi Bet a Kappa, and officiated at the funeral of John C. Calhoun, he was elected minister of St. Philip's in 1810 and Bishop of South Carolina Episcopal from 1840 to 1852. He is buried under the Communion Table inside the church.
