The death of the widow of the late Marcus Robbins of Fillmore, heretofore announced, was a crushing stroke of sorrow to the surviving children. Her maiden name was Fanny Hubbard, born in Massena, St. Lawrence county, N. Y., in January 1808, making her upward of eighty years old at her death. August 2, 1835, she joined in matrimony with Marcus Robbins and enjoyed with him happy married life of more than fifty-two years. In her girlhood, Mrs. Robbins united with the M. E. Church and ever after was a consistent active christian worker. Her mental faculties were above the average and her memory unusually retentive; also, being an extensive reader of biography and history, she was a very entertaining conversationalist. The death of such a mother and neighbor is always a great calamity. Devoted children cherish her memory; friends and neighbors miss the wise counselor and generous helper. For many years Mr. and Mrs. Robbins resided in this county and were always respected by a large circle of friends. Their ancestors were of the best New England stock, and from the cradle to the grave they maintained the good reputation they inherited.
