Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Margaret A. Givens, 84, of 1108 7th St. S., Nampa, who died Thursday at a Nampa hospital, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Kohlerlawn Cemetery with Dr. James 0. York Sr., pastor of the Nampa First Christian Church officiating, assisted by the Rev. Frank M. Karler pastor emeritus. The cortege will leave the Alsip Funeral Chapel at 1:45 p.m.
Mrs. Givens was born on November 13, 1894 at Waukegan, Illinois. At a young age she moved with her parents to Ogden, Utah and later moved to Boise where she was reared and educated. She married Granville L. Givens on August 30, 1916 in Boise. They were in the Livestock business at Givens Hot Springs for many years. They moved to Nampa in 1919 where they had since made their home. They founded the Drive-In Market in Nampa in 1937 and owned and operated it until they retired in 1946. Mr. Givens died on March 29, 1971.
Mrs. Givens was a member of the Nampa First Christian Church where she taught Sunday school for over 50 years, and was a member of the Orchard Av. Club. She is survived by one son, Jack A. Givens, Nampa; one daughter, Mrs. J. Douglas Helen Hansen, Boise; two sister-in-laws, Mrs. Carrie Givens, Eagle, Mrs. M.A. (Beatrice) Gould, Nampa; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandaughter (sic). Besides her husband she was preceded in death by one brother. The family suggests memorial contributions to be given to a favorite charity or flowers may be sent. Friends may call at the Alsip Funeral Chapel Saturday, Sunday and Monday until 9 p.m. and until 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
