DIED: — At the residence of L. R. Simmons on Wednesday, August 7, 1901, at 2 o'clock, a.m., Washington N. Adams, aged 51 years, 11 months and 9 days. The deceased was born in ward 3, this parish, August 28, 1849.

Father was a member of the Christian Church, and was sick but a few days.

Oh! father, they gentle voice is hushed,
Thy warm true heart is still:
And on thy pale and peaceful face,
Is resting death's cold chill:
Thy hands are clasped upon thy breast,
we have kissed thy marble brow,
And in our aching hearts we know,
we have no father now.

Farewell father, farewell father!
Peaceful be thy silent rest:
Slumber sweetly, God knew best
when to call thee home to rest.

Farewell father, farewell father!
we must say our last farewell,
'Till we meet beyond the river
Happy there with thee to dwell.

His son,
WILLIE.
