LOWELL WALTER POOLE, 31, a private in the U.S. Army, was killed in action in Belgium Jan. 19, 1945. Official notification was received by Mr. and Mrs. Lester Stuber, near LaFontaine, with whom Pvt. Poole had lived while working as a farm hand. He had entered service in April, 1944 and went overseas the following fall. Born in Wabash, Pvt. Poole had been a resident of the community throughout his life. Survivors include four children, Walter, Phyllis, Rosalie and Larry, all of Wabash county.

Lowell W. Poole is honored in the World War II Gold Star exhibit at the Wabash County Historical Museum, 24 East Market Street, Wabash, Indiana.
