Harrison/Harris James Vance was the son of John & Mary Ann (Swagerty) Vance.

He married Spicy Ann Voss in Washington Co, AR on May 26, 1861. Their children were: James "Henry" Harris, Mary Jane Cumi Elizabeth, Johnson "John," Samantha Clementine Ann, Nora, & Margery.

Spicy is thought to have died in Polk Co, MO, around 1900.

In Sept. 1901 he married Rose Graves who had a one year old daughter, Matilda.

Harrison & Rose had a son, William, around 1915.

Harris received a pension for his service on the side of the Union during the Civil War.
