POWDER BURNS PROVE FATAL TO PETERSON YOUTH

Kimball W. Peterson the youngest son of Bishop C.H.Peterson, passed away at 4:30 p.m. Monday ofter suffering 48 hours with severe burns received by the explosion of a small amount of black powder in his pocket. The flames spread so fast that before he could tear his clothes off the fire had burned more than one third of his skin. He must also have inhaled some of the fumes or death would not have taken him so soon.
He was born and raised in Smoot and had developed a very strong physical body perhaps the wiriest one in the family. He was a very affectionate boy loved and admired by all of his associates for his openness. Most of his boy friends looked to him as their leader. In short, he was a large open, free hearted fellow that had a very bright future before him.
A very impressive funeral service was held Thursday in the Smoot church. The speakers were Alvin Walton, E.N. Jensen, Thos Gomm, President Gardner and Supt A.B. Murphy. They all spoke words of comfort and consolation to the bereaved family. A male quartet from the high school very beautifully rendered "Scatter Seeds of Kindness".
The entire community feel to sympathize with the bereaved in their hour of trouble.
Interment took place in the Afton cemetery.
