LEWIS W. PERRY
Lewis W. Perry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew J. Perry, was born near Elmer, Missouri August 30, 1877 and has lived in that community until his death at the Grim-Smith hospital, January 27, 1948, at the age of seventy years, four months and twenty-seven days.
Mr. Perry was united in marriage to Miss Almyra Roberts April 5, 1899. One son was born to this union, Herbert O. Perry. Mrs. Perry died October 17, 1946. Later he was united in marriage to Mrs. Mary Atwood of Fort Madison, Iowa.
Those left to mourn their loss are his devoted wife and son, two grandchildren, Mrs. Elizabeth Fritz and Herbert Perry of Davenport, Iowa; his brother, Thomas Charles Perry of Pueblo, Colorado; his sister, Mrs. Ella Jane Bash of Denver, Colorado; one uncle, Manuel Perry of Akron, Ohio; and aged aunt, Mrs. Lizzie Perry Wait of Cardy, Missouri and a number of other relatives and many friends.
Mr. Perrys main vocation outside of farming for fourteen years from 1901 - 1915, was the harness business and following that, until 1948, he was on the road selling harness goods.
He was a Mason, a member of the Christian Church at Elmer for many years and served as Mayor of Elmer for fifteen years and was always interested in the civic affairs of the community in which he lived.
Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at the Christian Church by the pastor, Rev. Carl Huff of La Plata. Burial was in the Elmer cemetery.
