Clifford Distad, age 98, of Blooming Prairie, a former resident of Northfield, died on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, at the Prairie Manor Care Center in Blooming Prairie.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10 at the Bierman Funeral Home, Northfield, with burial in the Oaklawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from noon until the hour of services on Saturday, Jan. 10 at the funeral home.

Clifford Theodore Distad, the son of John and Julia (Leen) Distad, was born on June 26, 1910, at Westfield Township, rural Hayfield. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Baumann on Jan. 5, 1933, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Hayfield. Distad managed Midland Cooperatives in Hayfield, Clinton, Wis., and Northfield. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Northfield.

He is survived by his sons, John Distad of Northfield and David Distad of Danville, Va.; daughters, Mary Trom of Blooming Prairie, Janice Moore of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Judith Perala of Spokane, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
