Olive Gertrude Watkins dies at 95

AUSTIN -- Olive Gertrude Watkins, 95, of 2903 Fifth Ave. S.W., a Dodge County native, died Sunday (Dec. 3, 1995) at her home.

Olive Gertrude Distad was born March 29, 1900, in Westfield Township, Dodge County, attended a rural school, and lived in the Hayfield and Austin areas all her life. In December 1919, she married Earl ``Dick'' Watkins in Hayfield.

Survivors include a son, Robert C. of Austin; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Nora Distad and Ruth Distad, both of Austin; and two brothers, Clarence Distad of Austin and Clifford Distad of Northfield. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, two sisters and a brother.

The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, with the Rev. Harold Usgaard officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and an hour before the service Wednesday at the church.
