JOHN W. ROAN DIES IN ARCADIA;

Arcadia, Aug. 10, (Special) John Wesley Roan, 82, died at a hospital here yesterday after a long illness.

He was a native of DeSoto County and lived here all his life. He was a cattleman, and served many years as Arcadia Chief of Police. Before DeSoto County was divided into five counties he was a game warden.

A member of Trinity Methodist Church, he was active in helping build the church, and also was a member of Woodmen of the World and Knights of Pythias.

Survivors include three sons, Leslie, Debs and Lewis Roan, Arcadia; four daughters, Mrs. Everett Hansel and Mrs. Rowena Mansfield, Arcadia, Mrs. Sarah Carr and Mrs. Cherry Copeland, Bradenton; three brothers, Jess Roan Avon Park, George and Dick Roan, Bradley Junction; four sisters, Mrs. Annie Ford, Arcadia, Mrs. Fannie Willis, Lakeland, Mrs. Ida Corbett and Mrs. Donnie Willis, Miami; 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
