Amanda was the ninth of Judge James Madison and Artelia Elizabeth (Barker) Williams's 11 children. Her obituary follows:

"Mrs. T. L. Largen passed peacefully away last Monday, Nov. 5th, 1906, at 2:15 P. M., after an illness of about three months. She suffered so with heart trouble that she could not lie down, but had to be propped up in a chair. She was very patient through all her sickness, and talked of her approaching death. She was perfectly resigned and repeatedly expressed herself as being ready to go. Her desire to live was for the sake of her husband and children. She asked Rev. B. F. McCombs to preach her funeral.

Mrs. Amanda America Largen, wife of Rev. T. L. Largen and daughter of the lamented Judge J. M. Williams, was born in Lawrence county, Mo., near Peirce City, on Oct. 24, 1839, age at 47 years and 11 days. She professed faith in Christ Oct., 1879, and joined the Peirce City Baptist church.

She was to married to Eld. T. L. Largen, Nov. 14, 1880. To this union were born eleven children, ten boys and one girl. Three boys and the girl are dead. Seven boys are living. Walter, Arthur, Ira, Earl, Roy, Ora?, and Logan. In her father's family there were eleven children, eight girls and three boys, four of the girls are dead. Those living are James, George, and John Williams, Mrs. Gillie Long, Mrs. Margaret Higgs, Mrs. Fannie Seamster, Mrs. Clara Hutsell. Her father and mother are both dead.

She said she had about as many friends and loved ones waiting for her in heaven as she would leave here. She and her husband have walked together in married life about twenty-six years. She has lived a consistent Christian, a devoted wife and mother.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Newtonia on Tuesday at 2 P.M., Rev. B. F. McCombs conducted the services assisted by Rev. D. Hopkins and Rev. T. M. Norris. The remains were interred in the I. O. O. F. cemetery near Newtonia. The heart-felt sympathy of the hole community goes out to Rev. Largen and his children in this great bereavement."
