REVOLUTIONARY WAR SOLDIER

Samuel Bailey was a son of Samuel Bailey and Mary (Rolf) Bailey. He married Hannah Kittredge, January 22, 1753. He lived at Andover, Mass., on the home place with his father. He served in the Revolutionary War as a member of Capt. Jacob Tyler's company in Col. Ebenezer Bridge's Regiment. He was killed at Bunker Hill, June 17, 1775. His name appears upon the tablets erected in 1889 by the city of Boston on the slope of Bunker Hill. [Bailey Genealogy, 30]. He served as a private, Captain Joshua Holt's Co., which marched on the alarm of April 19, 1775, to Cambridge; service, 1-1/2 days; also, Captain Charles Furbush's Company, Colonel Ebenezer Bridge's regiment ...service and death at Bunker Hill certified by Capt. Furbush. South Parish Congregational Church records of Andover, Massachuetts show that Samuel Baily was killed in Battle at Bunker Hill on June 17, 1775.

Known descendants of Samuel and Hannah are listed in applications for membership in the DAR and SAR. They include Hannah, James, David, and Levi. The Stickney Family genealogy of 1869 lists daughter Mary.
