Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Bryant was born January 20, 1896, in Adair County, Kentucky, a son of John Austin and Ruthie Belle Brockman Bryant. He married Gladys Reifsteck in Champaign. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Russell of Hoffman Estates; a daughter, Iva Ruth Benton of Palestine, Texas; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rosa Scales of Mahomet, and Dorothy Whitt of Cincinnati, Ohio; four brothers, Virgil of Harrisburg, Michigan, Ocie [should be Ocil] and Ola, both of Columbia, Kentucky, and Lucian of Edinburg [should be Edinburgh], Indiana. He was preceded in death by a son [Donald], a brother [Welby (1923)], and five sisters [first one was stillborn or died as an infant, Pearl Ion Hill (1957), Viola Mae Bryant (1976), Ida Ella Deener (1972), and Vona Nell Bryant (1909)]. Mr. Bryant was a retired farmer. For many years he farmed at DeWitt and Rising. He also was employed at Consumers Service Station in Champaign. Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Fund or the Church of the Brethren in Champaign.
***
His son, Donald, who preceded him in death, was his son with his first wife, Avis. With his second wife, Leona M. Stover, he had two daughters, Helen and Dorothy. I have no idea why they are not mentioned in the obituary. Russell and Iva Ruth were his children with Gladys.
