CORLISS — Betty Jo Adams, 77, of Corliss, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2009, at home following a short illness.

Born March 13, 1931, in Laurel Creek, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mabel Teresa Pitsenbarger Carter.

Betty was a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, making pillows, canning, and she dearly loved her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy Nelson and Frankie Spinks; a grandson, Jonathan Adams; and a great-granddaughter, Bethany Carol Adams.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen Rider and husband, Ted, of Corliss; four sons, Charles W. Carter Sr. and wife, Tricia, of Apopka, Fla., Timothy Adams and wife, Carol, of Corliss, Terry Adams and wife, Marsha, of Corliss and Scott Adams and wife, Juanita, of Corliss; ten grandchildren, Charles W. Carter Jr., Myra Roach, Michelle Harmon, Michael Adams, Shawn Adams, Matthew Rider, April Adams, Nathan Rider, Shane Carter, and Chad Carter; and eight great-grandchildren, Brittany Adams, Erica Rider, Nicholas Adams, Caitlin Rider, Samuel Roach, Owen Roach, Evan Carter, and Brendan Carter.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at the Minnie Belle Baptist Church in Corliss with Pastor Gene Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery in Corliss.

Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, January 5, 2009, at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Rainelle.
