HIRAM HEADLEE DEAD
Civil War Veteran and Well Known Resident of City Passed Away Sunday
Hiram Headlee aged seventy-eight years, a veteran of the civil war and a resident of Crawfordsville for many years, died at his home, 1020 Tuttle avenue at ten-thirty Sunday morning after a lingering illness. His death had been expected for several days. Mr. Headlee was born in Pennsylvania in January, 1837. When the war was started he enlisted with a Pennsylvania company and saw active and valiant service during the conflict. He was in the Soldiers and Sailors Home at Lafayette for several years and came to Crawfordsville ten years ago. He was active in the work of Memorial Chapel while he retained his health.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Vicy G. Headlee, two sons, Oscar of Indianapolis, and John of this city, and one daughter, Mrs. Georgia Shelton of Indianapolis.
Funeral services will be held from the home at two this afternoon in charge of Rev. F.B. Solin, pastor of Memorial Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Masonic cemetery. Members of the G.A.R. of which Mr. Headlee was a member, will attend the services.
