Salvatore F. ''Sam'' Facenda, 82, a native of Portsmouth and former resident of
Virginia Beach, died Nov. 4, 1995 in his residence.
Mr. Facenda was the son of Salvatore F. and Amita Branca Facenda, and was the
widower of Loraine Wells Facenda. He was preceded in death by two daughters,
Deborah F. Sipe and Linda Facenda. He was retired from the Norfolk Naval
Shipyard as a mechanic after more than 30 years of service. He was a member of
St. Paul's Catholic Church. He was a former member of St. Matthews Catholic
Church; Knights of Columbus 418 and its Fourth Degree Assembly.
He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 6, in St.
Paul's Catholic Church by the Rev. Joseph Slowik. Burial will be in Forest Lawn
Cemetery, Norfolk. A Christian Wake service will be held at 5 p.m. today in
Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth, were the family will receive friends until 7
p.m.
