From the Chicago Daily Tribune Saturday September 9, 1939; "Funeral services for Lloyd Adkins, 30 years old, pilot and owner of a private plane which crashed near Huron, O., on Labor Day, killing three persons, were held yesterday in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Private flyers and members of the 108th Observation Squadron of the Illinois National Guard, of which Adkins' brother, Roy, is a member, flew over the cemetery and dropped wreaths on the grave. Adkins lived at 641 West 64th Street. Surviving are his widow, Frances, and a son, Lloyd Jr."
