WOOD RIVER

Woman killed in crash is identified

Authorities identified the woman killed Wednesday in a two-car crash in Wood River as Amanda L. Matteson, 76, of Moro.

Matteson's car was hit head-on by a car driven by Donna Schwartz-Moore, 43, of Wood River, who was ticketed Wednesday for failure to yield, police said.

Schwartz-Moore had driven out of a parking lot into the path of Matteson's car, which was eastbound on Illinois Route 143. She was in satisfactory condition Thursday evening at Alton Memorial Hospital.

Amanda Lea (Hoover) Matteson, 76, retired from Owens Glass, died Wednesday. Visitation noon to 2 p.m. Saturday with funeral following at Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Bethalto. Burial at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens. Memorials to a charity of donor's choice.
