Melvina Brodine was the daughter of Henry S. Brodine and Ingra Carlson. Her parents emigrated to the USA on 10 Oct 1888 from Sweden. Her father, Henry, was from Näsum Parish Kristianstads län, Skåne, Sweden and her mother was from Färlöv, Skane Lan, Sweden. Her parnets had one son while in Sweden, Charles S Brodine, born 22 May 1887. The remainder (6) were born in Nebraska. These children included: Oscar Earnt (07 Nov 1888, Sargent, Custer, Nebraska, USA to 01 Mar 1964, Sargent, Custer, Nebraska, USA), Alma (Nov 1891, Douglas Grove, Custer, NE, USA), Clara Marie (21 Jan 1893, Sargent, Custer, Nebraska, USA, died 13 Aug 1984, Sargent, Custer, Nebraska, USA, married to James Arthur Debusk), and Harry Roy Brodine (21 Jan 1893, Sargent, Custer, Nebraska, USA to 04 Mar 1995 in Anaheim, Orange, California, USA).

Melvina married Edward Theodore Hill of Nebraska in about 1912 where three of their four children were born. In the 1930s they moved to Whitehall, NY where Edward was a Postal carrier. In the 1940s, they moved to Washington, DC where 3 of the 4 children resided.

Melvina died of breast cancer.

On Sunday, 31 December 1972 of Washington, D.C., wife of the late Edward T Hill, mother of Robert G, and W. Henry Hill, Mrs Edna Winston and Mrs Marguerite E. Goetz. Survived by eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Sister of Clara de Busk and Harry Brodine. Friends received after 6 pm at the Robert E. Wilhelm Funeral Home, 4308 Suitland Road, SE where services will be held on Wednesday, January 3, at 11:30 am. Interment Fort Lincoln Cemetery.
