Clarence E. Bushong, 81, of Marshall died on , Aug. 6, 2000, at Oaklawn Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Bushong was born on Nov. 13, 1918, in Mt. Pleasant MI to Kearney and Della (Radle) Bushong.

He served in the United States Army in the South Pacific during World War II.

He married Stella Julia (Jo) Bodine on Sep. 16, 1943, in Marshall. She preceded him in death on June 24. The couple resided in Eckford Township the majority of their lives.

Mr. Bushong worked at Union Steel, Gail Foundry and Brooks Foundry, all of Albion, in the late 1940s to the early 1950s and farmed from the early 1950s until his retirement.

His favorite activities were traveling the country visiting friends and relatives, hunting, fishing, and going to auctions.

He was a member of the Calhoun County Farm Bureau.

He is survived by three sons, Jimmy R. (Linda) Bushong,
Gary L. (Barbara) Bushong ; and Tate C. (Diana) Bushong; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth (Charles) Tobias , and Myona (Lawrence) Lapland .

Mr. Bushong was preceded in death by his wife, Julia; two sisters, Marjorie H. Bushong and Beatrice O'Dell; three brothers, Otto Bushong, Kearney Bushong, and Craig Bushong.
