6/13/2010 Please read this bio as I'm not certain who is buried here, Mary or Esther.

Esther M.(daughter of Mary & Nathaniel) and Nathaniel Hathaway should also be here.
--------
Update 1/1/2009:
The person buried here is probably Esther (Pratt) Hathaway, stepmother of Esther M. Hathaway.
There was a 2nd article in Jan. the following year stating an error had been made.

1/8/2009 I have made the change from Mary to Esther hoping I have the right person. It does not make sense Esther M. Hathaway would have gone to the trouble/expense of moving her natural mother whom she did not know but that of her stepmother/aunt who had raised her.

Esther was the daughter of Ebenezer & Sarah (Aldrich) Pratt.

Nathaniel G. Hathaway married Esther, in 1842 as his 2nd wife. Mary Pratt was his first wife.

Nathaniel & Esther had 2 children Frances O. b. 1844 & Mason B. b. bet. 1848 & 49.
==============================
I am leaving this information about Mary. Mary was born 10 Jun 1809 & died prob. in 1841 in North Adams, MA
Mary (Pratt)Hathaway was the first wife of Nathaniel G. Hathaway.
Her parents were Ebenezer & Sarah (Aldrich) Pratt.
Mary & Nathaniel had:
Sarah b. 1829, Helen abt. 1832 & Esther M. b. 1835.

In late 1898 Mary's remains were stated in the North Adams Transcript newspaper to have been removed from the 'Old Burying Ground' and interred at Hillside.
This article stated she had died in 1841 which is probably the correct year as I see a female in Nathaniel's house in 1840 who must have been Mary. This is also proven by the fact Esther & Nathaniel didn't marry until 1842.

My date of death for Mary was 14 Apr 1838..but am absolutely certain she is the same person who died in 1841. I do not have a source for that date but believe it came from a genealogy of the Hathaway family after looking at notes & returning to message boards at Ancestry & Genforum.
I believe Mary is probably still buried where she had been originally, wherever that is.
