MRS. JOSEPHINE E. RUSSELL McCARTNEY, 89, of 357 East Northern Avinue, died early Saturday in the Rebekah Hospital of the (IOOF) Independent Order of the Odd Fellows Home. She had been in failing health for several years.
She was born January 21, 1880 in Wellston, Ohio, the daughter of William Russell and Mary Alice Myers Melvin and had lived here almost all of her life. Mrs McCartney was a member of the Central United Methodist Church.
Survivors, at the time of her death, included two daughters, Mrs. Howard (Norma) Kubie, and Mrs. R.M. (Alice) Borst; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and a brother, O. L. Melvin of New Holland.
She was the widow of E. W. McCartney who died September 30, 1967. They were married 65 years.
Her body was taken to Littleton Funeral Home.
