Harvey Buckner, 54, well known farmer of the Bethel community, North of Athens, died suddenly at the family home at 4:45 Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Buckner had been ill for some months but was able to work. He had just came in from chopping wood and on reaching the porch of his home he fell dead, the death being attributed to heart failure.
Funeral services will be held at the Malakoff cemetery Thursday afternoon at 3:30 where burial will follow. Rev. William Dickinson, Methodist pastor of Malakoff, will conduct the services, while burial rites will be in charge of Carroll-Lehr Undertaking Company of Athens.
Mr. Buckner is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lizzie Buckner; two daughters, Mrs. Rosalee Simpson of Kountze, Texas and Miss Willie Buckner of Bethel; and one son, George Buckner. One brother Will Buckner of Oakland and one sister also survive.
Deceased was born in Mississippi but came to Texas at ten years of age. He lived in the Oakland community for more than twenty years before moving to the Bethel section some ten years ago.
Mr. Buckner was a farmer and was well known in the North and West parts of the county.
