Bernard, Mary Anne
was born on July 13, 1918, to John and Bridget Wenta in Fowler, Kansas. She passed away on December 1, 2005, in Lancaster, after a long illness. Her brothers, Paul and Andrew Wenta and her sister, Agnes Wenta preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband Art and three children, Mitch and Tootie Mendenhall of Fresno; Marilyn and Don Frazier of Lancaster; Maureen and John Reilly of Tehachapi; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; step-children, Arlo and Jo DeLong, Richard and Cheryl Bernard, William and Barbara Bernard; Anne came to California as a young woman, settling in Los Angeles. She relocated her family to Lancaster in 1957, and opened Coiffures by Denny on West Avenue J-2. Mary Anne was active with the AV Women's Bowling Association and the Women of the Moose. Mary Anne retired in 1979. She spent her retirement doing the things she loved with her husband Art and enjoying life to the fullest. Mary Anne was loved by all who knew her; she will be greatly missed by both her family and friends. A Mass celebrating her life will be held at 10 a.m., on Friday, December 9, 2005, at Sacred Heart Church, 45007 Cedar Avenue, Lancaster. Halley-Olsen-Murphy Memorial Chapel, in charge of arrangements.
