MRS. FANNIE STRAUGHN CLAIMED BY DEATH

In the death of Mrs. Fannie Straughn, at the ripe old age of 89 years, at her home on the Andalusia-Rose Hill road, Friday night of last week, one of the landmarks of that community has been removed.

Mrs. Straughn, before her marriage nearly seventy years ago, was Miss Fannie Johns, and moved to the community where she died from Georgia. Mrs. Straughn lived a life of quietness among her many neighbors and her daily living was such that inspired others to higher ideals. She always took an active interest in community activities and was regarded as a leader.

She is survived by two daughters and three sons. The daughters are Mrs. R.S. Jackson, of Opp and Miss Dollie Straughn, of Rose Hill. Sons are A.D. and John Straughn, of Rose Hill and Herbert Straughn, of Dozier.

Funeral services were conducted from the Straughn home Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock with Tip Grider of Troy officiating, after which interment was made in Pilgrim's Rest cemetery near Rose Hill with Benson and Company in charge.
